Who makes Nolimit City games
Nolimit City games are made by Nolimit City Limited, a Maltese company with registration number C 54001, owned by Evolution since 8 August 2022. The footer of the studio’s website gives its registered address in St. Julians, Malta.
Evolution announced on 8 August 2022 that it had completed the purchase. Its 2025 annual report lists Nolimit City Ltd as a wholly owned subsidiary, together with Nolimit City Stockholm AB. More on the owner is on our Evolution Gaming page.
The studio’s own post, The history of Nolimit City, says: “The company was founded in 2013 by a group of industry veterans who wanted to create games that were different from the norm.” The post names none of them. Its first game, Oktoberfest, shows a release date of 14 November 2016 on its game page.
The website is part of Playin, a site Evolution runs for players of its slot studios. Its footer lists Nolimit City next to Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming, NetEnt and three other studios, and the website’s terms are issued by Evolution Malta Limited.
Nolimit City’s licences
Nolimit City holds two licences we could check in the regulators’ registers: Malta and Great Britain. Neither is Australian.
| Regulator | Licence holder | Number | Register, 17 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Malta Gaming Authority | Nolimit City Limited (C 54001) | MGA/B2B/299/2015, Type 1; footer: issued 1 August 2018 | Listed in the MGA register (the list shows no status column) |
| UK Gambling Commission | Nolimit City Limited | Account 52097, licence 052097-R-329532-010 | Active since 26 October 2018: Gambling Software, Game Host (Casino); 0 regulatory actions (public register) |
The MGA’s full list has no status column, so we write listed, not active. The studio’s history post dates its Malta licence to 2019; the footer of the same website says it was issued on 1 August 2018, and we give the footer date.
Evolution’s compliance and markets page, read the same day, lists the group’s licences in Malta, the United Kingdom and other countries. Australia does not appear on it.
Nolimit City games and what they pay
Each Nolimit City game page prints one RTP, a volatility badge, the hit frequency and the max payout; across the 141 pages we read on 17 October 2026 the RTP runs from 95.91% to 96.77%. The table shows ten titles, oldest first.

Read on the studio’s game pages at nolimitcity.com, 17 October 2026. The volatility word is shown as an image on each game page; we read it from that image. N/A is what the page prints.
Return to player (RTP) is the share of all stakes a game is designed to pay back on average over a very long run, not in one session. At 96.08%, that is A$96.08 for every A$100 staked over a very large number of spins.
Hit frequency is the share of spins that return any win; the figures in the table are the studio’s. Volatility describes how unevenly a game pays out. The studio gives a word, not a number: across its 141 pages the badge reads Extreme on 59, High on 35, Medium on 26 and Insane on 21, and none reads Low.
The studio prints one figure per game, but the version a casino runs is shown only in the game’s information screen at that casino. Our RTP page explains how the same pokie can pay 96.5% at one casino and 94.5% at another.
We took every figure from the statistics block of each page. The Mental page also carries a text summary of another game, Das xBoot; we used no figures from such text blocks.
xWays, xNudge, xSplit and xBomb
Nolimit City’s x-mechanics are features the studio named itself. Its post xMechanics Explained, published in July 2026, marks the four below with the ® sign and describes each in a sentence or two.
- xWays: “When an xWays® symbol lands, it reveals a stack of matching symbols. The more symbols revealed, the more ways there are to win.” The post points to Catfish Hunters; San Quentin xWays in the table above carries the name.
- xNudge: “When a Wild lands, it can nudge up or down to fill the entire reel. Every time it nudges, its multiplier increases by +1.” The post’s example is Outsourced 2: Balkan Engineering; Deadwood xNudge is another.
- xSplit: “When an xSplit® symbol appears, every symbol to its left is split into two.” The post’s example is Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and the Mental page lists xSplit among its mechanics.
- xBomb: “An exploding xBomb® Wild removes adjacent symbols except for Bonus symbols and will increase the win multiplier by one for the next collapse.” The post’s example is True Grit Redemption 2; the Fire In The Hole page names an xBomb Wild Multiplier.
The biggest max win and feature buys
Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge has the biggest max payout of the 141 Nolimit City game pages we read: 500,000 times the bet. Its page says that when the total win passes that amount, the game round ends and 500,000 times the base bet is paid.
Next come Tombstone R.I.P at 300,000x, San Quentin 2: Death Row at 200,000x and San Quentin xWays at 150,000x. At an A$1 base bet the Tombstone Slaughter cap is A$500,000, arithmetic from the stated max payout; the studio puts the chance of the max win at 1 in 189m.
A feature buy is a fixed price paid to start a bonus round at once. The Feature buy-in cell reads Yes on 120 of the 141 pages; the other 21, all released between November 2016 and January 2020, such as Oktoberfest and Tombstone, have no such cell.
Mental’s page prices its bonus buys “ranging from 80x to 1000x the base bet”, and Tombstone R.I.P’s page gives 70x to 3,000x. The Mental page adds that the Nolimit Bonus feature may be removed in some regulated markets. What a bonus buy costs and whether it changes the return is covered on our bonus buy pokies page.
Nolimit City and Australia
Nolimit City’s own website does not permit Australian residents to visit it under its terms, and the casino lobbies we could read from Australia did not list its games.
The terms of nolimitcity.com, version 1.1, effective 16 June 2025, are issued by Evolution Malta Limited (C 48666). Section 05 says: “Individuals residing in any of the following territories are not permitted to visit the Website: Australia, Crimea, Cuba, Iran, Myanmar, North Korea, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, and Taiwan”. The terms call these the Blocked Territories. They are the terms of the studio’s fan and demo website, not a statement about its games at casinos.
The site still opened from our Australian connection on 17 October 2026. On the five game pages we checked from Australia, a box marked Restricted access stood in place of the Playin Coins button; the Mental page opened from Germany showed that button.
None of the 9 lobby lists we could read from an Australian connection on 17 October 2026 listed Nolimit City; from Germany, at the same time, all 9 did. We checked 10 casinos we review; Bizzo’s provider list did not load from either country.
| Casino (our review) | Nolimit City listed from Australia | Studios listed: Australia / Germany | Nolimit City listed from Germany |
|---|---|---|---|
| King Billy | No | 66 / 105 | Yes |
| Woo Casino | No | 91 / 153 | Yes |
| Ricky Casino | No | 50 / 64 | Yes |
| Casinonic | No | 53 / 74 | Yes |
| CasinoChan | No | 93 / 155 | Yes |
| PlayAmo | No | 94 / 156 | Yes |
| Golden Crown | No | 76 / 132 | Yes |
| Dundee Slots | No | 66 / 84 | Yes |
| BitStarz | No | 49 / 89 | Yes |
| Bizzo | Not determined: list did not load | Not determined | Not determined |
Provider lists read without logging in, through an Australian connection and, for comparison, from Germany, 17 October 2026, 10:33–10:35 UTC. All ten casinos are offshore and not licensed in Australia, and all ten have domains on ACMA’s list of blocked gambling websites (checked 17 October 2026). The order is not a ranking.
The same nine lobbies did not list Nolimit City from Australia on 11 October 2026 either. A search test gave the same answer on 17 October: from Australia, searching PlayAmo, King Billy and Casinonic for Mental and Tombstone returned no Nolimit City title, while the same searches from Germany returned Mental, Tombstone R.I.P., Tombstone Slaughter and other Nolimit City games.
We read the lists without an account and did not start a game, so they do not show what an Australian account would see.
Nolimit City demos and Australia
We do not link to Nolimit City’s demos, because the website that hosts them lists Australia as a blocked territory in its terms. The studio’s post introducing Playin says: “All our games are also available in demo mode – no registration required.” From Australia, the five game pages we checked showed the Restricted access box instead.
How demo play works, and where a game started without an account in our own check, is on our free pokies page.
Is it legal to play Nolimit City slots in Australia?
Not at an online casino. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) says the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 “makes it illegal for gambling providers to offer some online services to people in Australia”, and online casinos are among the banned services (checked 11 October 2026). None of Nolimit City’s licences is Australian.
The law is tightening. The Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Act 2026 received Royal Assent on 26 August 2026; most of it starts on 1 January 2027, including powers to block payments to illegal gambling services. Our guide to the law on real-money online casinos covers the detail.
Safer play. Gambling Help Online is available 24 hours a day on 1800 858 858 and at gamblinghelponline.org.au. You can self-exclude from licensed Australian online wagering at betstop.gov.au. Set a limit before you play. You must be 18 or over. More contacts are on our support resources page.
