The cap and the multiplier decide what the spins are worth. Golden Crown caps the winnings from its welcome spins at A$225 and wagers them 40 times; BitStarz caps spins given without a deposit at A$150 and pays nothing until A$20 has been deposited; Grand Rush caps every free-spin win at $100 and wagers it 60 times. This page sets out the numbers by operator, the arithmetic that follows, and the clauses that void the winnings.
What a free spin is
The casino credits a number of spins on one named pokie at a fixed stake. Golden Crown's welcome offer, for example, gives 300 spins on Bonanza Billion by BGaming, 30 a day over ten days, with Bonanza Trillion as the fallback game (bonus terms, read 11 and 17 October 2026). You cannot choose the game or the stake, and the spins come in sets that must be used inside a time limit: at Golden Crown, «Once free spins have been activated, all game rounds should be completed within 24 hours; otherwise, they will expire.» BitStarz gives one day to open the game and one day to finish the rounds.
The spins themselves have a fixed value: the stake times the count. What varies by operator is what happens to the winnings, and that is where the terms matter.
The terms, operator by operator
All figures are from each operator's own bonus terms or general terms, read from an Australian connection on 11 October 2026 and again on 17 October 2026; 19 of the 23 documents were word for word the same on both days. Amounts are in the currency the terms use.

Three patterns cover most of the set. Golden Crown, Woo, Spinago, CasinoChan, PlayAmo, Casinonic, Dundee Slots, Ricky, King Billy and Casino Rocket wager 30 to 50 times, and those that state a no-deposit cap put it at A$70 to A$75. Fair Go, Ozwin, Lucky Tiger, Rich Palms and Shazam wager free offers 45 to 60 times and cap them at five or six times the bonus, with an A$180 ceiling at Fair Go and Ozwin. Grand Rush combines 60 times with $100. None of the terms we could read lets free-spin winnings be withdrawn without wagering, and of those, only Casinonic's name no cap on them.
No-deposit free spins
No-deposit spins carry the smallest caps and almost always a deposit before withdrawal: A$75 plus a deposit at Golden Crown and King Billy, A$75 and a €20 deposit at Woo, CasinoChan and PlayAmo, A$150 and A$20 deposited at BitStarz, 70 AUD at Dundee Slots, 5× the bonus at Fair Go and Ozwin. At Fair Go no-deposit offers are sent by e-mail to eligible players, not posted publicly. Ozwin shows one public free offer, a $10 credit on its home page; its terms are in our Ozwin review. More on the cash version: no-deposit bonuses.
The arithmetic of 300 free spins
Take Golden Crown's 300 welcome spins and assume a stake of A$0.25. The spins are worth A$75 of bets. On a pokie set to 96% RTP the expected win is A$72, which becomes bonus money wagered 40 times: A$2,880 of bets. At a 4% edge those bets are expected to cost A$115, more than the A$72 there is to play with, so on average the bonus balance runs out before the wagering is done and nothing is withdrawn; the A$225 cap clips an unusually good run where it would have paid. These are our numbers, not the casino's; replace the stake and RTP with those printed on the offer.
Four kinds of free spins
- Sign-up spins, no deposit. Granted on registration. Smallest caps (above), and nearly every operator requires a deposit before the winnings leave.
- Deposit spins. Attached to a match bonus and released in daily sets. At Golden Crown the 40× applies to the match bonus and the spins together.
- Weekly and reload spins. Sets tied to a mid-week or weekend deposit; at Golden Crown, 30 spins for A$45 up to 100 spins for A$105. Same wagering, same caps.
- In-game free spins. The bonus round of the pokie itself, triggered by scatter symbols. Not a promotion, and the one kind that is free: the round is part of the game's stated return. One rule still reaches it: Woo forbids postponing playing rounds, «including free spins and bonus rounds», until the bonus no longer needs playing through (clause 8d).
Clauses that void the winnings
- Bet size. A$7 on Golden Crown's welcome bonus, A$8 at Woo, Spinago, CasinoChan and PlayAmo, A$7 at Ricky, A$7.50 at King Billy and Casino Rocket, A$5 at BitStarz, €5 at Casinonic and Dundee Slots, $10 at Fair Go, Ozwin, Lucky Tiger, Rich Palms and Shazam, $5 a round at Grand Rush. One bet over the line can void the bonus and its winnings.
- Consecutive free offers. Fair Go and Ozwin can void a second free bonus taken without a real deposit in between; Ignition requires a deposit before a second no-deposit bonus.
- Time. 24 hours to use an activated set at Golden Crown; one day to open and one to play at BitStarz; 3 days for spin winnings at Casinonic, Dundee Slots and Ricky; 150 days to start a withdrawal from a bonus balance at Fair Go and Ozwin.
- Deposit turnover. Woo may cancel free spins and their winnings if the deposit that earned them was not wagered at least three times.
- Game contribution. Pokies count in full; table games count 5% at Woo, live-dealer games excepted, and Ozwin's terms count only pokies towards free-bonus wagering and let the casino void winnings if an excluded game is played.
Lowest and highest requirements
We do not list current offers: they change weekly and expire faster than a page can be updated. The rulebook above changes less often. The lowest default multiplier in the set is King Billy's 30×; the highest are 60× on free offers at Fair Go, Ozwin and Grand Rush. The highest no-deposit cap stated is BitStarz's A$150; Dundee Slots' 70 AUD is the lowest fixed amount. Our casino bonus guide covers match bonuses on the same basis, and no wagering casinos answers whether any operator pays a bonus without a multiplier.
FAQ
Are free spins really free?
The spins cost nothing; the winnings do. In the 22 sets of terms we could read they are wagered 30 to 60 times before withdrawal where a multiplier is stated, most cap them, and spins given without a deposit usually need a deposit before anything is paid (terms read 11 and 17 October 2026).
Can you win real money from free spins?
Yes, but only up to the cap and only after the wagering. Golden Crown pays at most A$225 from its welcome spins after 40× wagering; Grand Rush at most $100 after 60×. Anything above the cap is removed.
What is a max cashout on free spins?
The most you can withdraw from free-spin winnings, whatever you win. In the terms we read it is A$75 for no-deposit spins at Golden Crown, Woo, CasinoChan, PlayAmo, King Billy and Casino Rocket, 70 AUD at Dundee Slots, A$150 at BitStarz and $100 at Grand Rush.
What is the difference between no-deposit and deposit free spins?
No-deposit spins come with sign-up and carry the smallest caps, often A$75, plus a deposit before withdrawal. Deposit spins come with a match bonus, share its wagering and usually have a higher cap: at Golden Crown, A$225 for the welcome spins.
Sources and method
Figures are from the bonus terms or general terms of 23 operators, read from an Australian connection (Melbourne) on 11 October 2026 and again on 17 October 2026, when 19 of the 23 documents were unchanged word for word. Changes on 17 October: Dundee Slots reworded its no-deposit cap without changing it (70 AUD); King Johnnie's terms became readable for the first time. BitStarz's bonus terms page showed 150 CAD/AUD/NZD for no-deposit winnings on 17 October 2026 (page dated «Last updated: June 25th 2025»), while the data behind the page gave 100; this page uses what the visitor sees. FastPay's terms need an account. The worked example assumes a A$0.25 stake and a pokie set to 96% RTP. Operators change bonus terms without notice; the dates above are the dates of reading.
