Pragmatic Play Slots in Australia: Who Makes Them, RTP and the Law

Last checked 11 October 2026 · 7 min read · 18+ · How this site is funded

Pragmatic Play is a Gibraltar-based studio owned by investors led by Veridian (Gibraltar) Limited and licensed in Great Britain; its game pages give one RTP per game, between 96.01% and 96.71% for the seven slots in our table, and neither licence named in its footer is Australian.

Key facts

  • UK licence: Pragmatic Play (Gibraltar) Limited, account 56015, Active in the UK Gambling Commission register on 11 October 2026.
  • A Gibraltar licence (RGL No. 107) is stated by the company; we could not check it in a register. No Pragmatic entity is in the Malta Gaming Authority register.
  • RTP on the studio’s pages: Gates of Olympus 96.50%, Big Bass Bonanza 96.71%, Sugar Rush 96.50%. A casino may run a different version.
  • pragmaticplay.fun says it is operated on behalf of Pragmatic; we could not confirm that independently and do not link it.

Who is behind Pragmatic Play

Pragmatic Play is a private studio run from Gibraltar. Its about page, read on 11 October 2026, says it is “led by CEO Julian Jarvis from its headquarters in Gibraltar” and “owned by a private group of investors led by Veridian (Gibraltar) Limited”.

The page gives no founding year. Its copyright line runs “2015 – 2026”, which dates the website, not the company. Pragmatic also says it is “certified or licensed in over 30 jurisdictions”; that is the company’s own figure, and we did not check it.

Pragmatic Play’s licence

Pragmatic holds an active licence in Great Britain, which we checked in the regulator’s register; its other licence claim we could not check.

Malta Gaming AuthorityNo entity named Pragmatic Play or Veridian—Not in the MGA register (317 entries)

The MGA register does list a company called Pragmatic Solutions MT Limited. Nothing we read connects it to Pragmatic Play, so we do not count it as Pragmatic’s licence.

Who tests the games

Pragmatic names three test labs. Its about page says its games “are Random Number Generator tested and certified by Gaming Laboratories International, Quinel and Gaming Associates”. A random number generator (RNG) is the software that decides each spin.

That is the company’s statement. We have not seen the certificates, so this page does not say any particular game is certified.

Seven Pragmatic Play slots and their RTP

Pragmatic publishes one RTP for each of these games. RTP (return to player) is the share of all stakes a game is designed to pay back over a very long run: at 96.50%, A$96.50 for every A$100 staked, not in one session.

GameRTPFeature in Pragmatic’s wordsSource
Gates of Olympus96.50%“Multiplier symbols with values up to 500x”Pragmatic
Gates of Olympus 100096.50%Multipliers “from 2x to 1,000x”; bonus buy “for 100x the player’s bet”Pragmatic
Big Bass Bonanza96.71%Money symbols “with values of up to 2,000x” in the bonus gamePragmatic
The Dog House96.51%—Pragmatic
Wolf Gold96.01%All 15 positions filled win “the Mega Jackpot worth 1,000x”Pragmatic
Sugar Rush96.50%Multiplier “starting at 2x and doubling each time a symbol hits up to 128x”Pragmatic
Sweet Bonanza96.48%Free-spin multipliers from 2x to 100xPragmatic

All figures read on Pragmatic’s game pages on 11 October 2026. The pages give no volatility rating or maximum-win field. A multiplier is a multiple of the stake: at A$1 a spin, 1,000x is A$1,000.

One RTP per page, but check the casino’s version

The RTP on Pragmatic’s page may not be the one at your casino. Each page shows one figure and lists no alternatives, yet Pragmatic’s own demo of Sweet Bonanza reported two values, 96.49% and 96.60%, when we read its settings on 11 October 2026. Neither matches the 96.48% on the game page.

Pragmatic does not publish which other versions casinos can run. The figure that applies to you is in the game’s information screen at the casino, so read it there before you play.

pragmaticplay.fun and Pragmatic Play apps

pragmaticplay.fun is a community website that says it runs on Pragmatic’s behalf; we could not confirm that, so we treat it as neither official nor fake. Its footer reads: “This website is operated by Knight Proof Services Limited, on behalf of Pragmatic Play (Gibraltar) Limited”. We saw no real-money play on it.

The evidence is mixed. The domain was registered on 16 October 2023 through SafeNames Ltd., the same registrar as pragmaticplay.com, which is a hint, not proof. Pragmatic’s about page does not link to it, we found no Pragmatic press release about it, and a search for Knight Proof Services Limited found nothing (11 October 2026).

We do not link pragmaticplay.fun or apps that use the Pragmatic Play name, because we have not confirmed who runs them.

Pragmatic Play demo

Pragmatic runs free demos on its own demo server; we read the Sweet Bonanza demo’s settings there for this page. A demo uses play credits, so nothing is won or lost, and its settings may differ from a casino’s version. Our free pokies guide explains what demos show and what they do not.

Where we saw Pragmatic Play

From an Australian connection, one of the casino lobbies we rechecked listed Pragmatic Play. On 11 October 2026 we read the provider filters of ten casinos we review, all offshore and not licensed in Australia: Bizzo named Pragmatic Play, Pragmatic Play Live and Pragmatic Play POP; BitStarz (49 studios) and eight casinos on the Novatrix platform (listed in our game providers guide) did not list it.

From a connection in Germany the same day, BitStarz and the eight Novatrix lobbies did list Pragmatic Play. A list we captured on 23 September 2026 included it at BitStarz and Bizzo; from Australia on 11 October BitStarz did not list it.

We read the lists without an account and did not try to open a game, so a name in a lobby list does not prove the games are offered to Australian accounts. We list no bonus offers here; how no-deposit offers work is explained in our bonus types guide.

Not at an online casino. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) says the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 “makes it illegal for gambling providers to offer some online services to people in Australia”, and online casinos are among the banned services (checked 11 October 2026). None of Pragmatic’s listed licences is Australian.

ACMA also writes to studios. Its compliance report of October 2025 says it wrote to 63 software providers whose games were available on an illegal gambling website, and 27 responded and acted to keep their content out of “restricted jurisdictions such as Australia”. ACMA names none of the 63, so we cannot say whether Pragmatic was one. Pragmatic’s about page and terms of use, read on 11 October 2026, do not mention Australia.

The law is tightening. The Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Act 2026 received Royal Assent on 26 August 2026; most of it starts on 1 January 2027, including powers to block payments to illegal gambling services. Our guide to the law on real-money online casinos covers the detail.

Pragmatic Play FAQ

Is Pragmatic Play licensed?

Yes, in Great Britain: Pragmatic Play (Gibraltar) Limited, account 56015, was Active in the UK Gambling Commission register on 11 October 2026. It also states a Gibraltar licence, RGL No. 107, which we could not check in a register. No Pragmatic entity is in the Malta Gaming Authority register.

What is the RTP of Gates of Olympus?

96.50%, according to Pragmatic’s game page checked on 11 October 2026. Gates of Olympus 1000 shows the same 96.50%. A casino may run a different version, so check the game’s information screen where you play.

Is pragmaticplay.fun the official site?

We cannot confirm it. Its footer says it is operated by Knight Proof Services Limited on behalf of Pragmatic Play (Gibraltar) Limited, but Pragmatic’s own site does not link to it and we found no Pragmatic statement about it. Pragmatic’s company site is pragmaticplay.com.

Can I play Pragmatic Play slots legally in Australia?

Not at an online casino. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 bans offering online casino services to people in Australia, and none of Pragmatic’s listed licences is Australian. Free demos use play credits, not money.
