Key facts
- Studio: Pragmatic Play. Wins come from 8–12+ matching symbols anywhere on tumbling reels; 4–6 scatters give 10 free spins with 2x–100x multipliers (provider page, checked 11 October 2026).
- RTP on the provider page: 96.48%. The provider’s own demo reports two other values; the page does not say what they mean.
- Pragmatic’s current page gives no volatility rating and no maximum win for the original game; older press and review sites disagree on both.
- ACMA lists “slots (pokies)” among online services that are illegal to offer to people in Australia under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, so in our reading no service licensed in Australia can offer Sweet Bonanza for money.
How Sweet Bonanza plays
Sweet Bonanza pays for groups of symbols, not for lines. Pragmatic Play’s game page says 8 to 12 or more matching symbols anywhere on the reels win. The reels are “tumbling”, the page says. The grid is 6 reels by 5 rows, according to World Casino Directory’s launch report of 26 June 2019.
Four to six scatter symbols start the bonus game with 10 free spins. During the free spins, multiplier symbols worth 2x to 100x can land, and at the end of a tumbling sequence, in Pragmatic’s words, “the values of all multiplier symbols add together”. Two multipliers of 10x and 25x therefore count as 35x, not 250x.
RTP: what Pragmatic publishes
Pragmatic Play’s game page gives one RTP for Sweet Bonanza: 96.48%. Return to player (RTP) is the share of all stakes a game is designed to pay back over a very large number of spins. At 96.48%, that is A$96.48 for every A$100 staked over the long run, not a promise for any one session.
The page lists no other RTP versions. The provider’s own demo, whose game settings we read on 11 October 2026, reports two values, 96.49% and 96.60%, without saying what each one stands for. The figure that applies to you is the one in the game’s info screen at the casino where it runs, so check it there before you play. Our online pokies guide explains how to read that screen.
Sweet Bonanza versions compared
Seven games carry the name. Six are slots; Sweet Bonanza CandyLand is a live game show. The table uses Pragmatic’s own game pages for mechanics, top win and RTP, and trade press for release dates, because the provider pages do not give dates.
| Version | What changes | Top win | RTP (provider page) | Released |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sweet Bonanza | The original: 2x–100x multipliers in free spins | Not on provider page; 21,175x in 2019 launch press | 96.48% | June 2019 (World Casino Directory) |
| Sweet Bonanza Xmas | 4+ scatters give 10 free spins, multipliers up to 100x | Not on provider page | 96.48% | December 2019 (World Casino Directory) |
| Sweet Bonanza 1000 | Candy bomb multipliers up to 1,000x; 3+ lollipops in the bonus add 5 free spins | 25,000x | 96.53% | June 2024 (Yogonet) |
| Sweet Bonanza 2500 | Candy bomb multipliers up to 2,500x | 25,000x | 96.52% | Not confirmed |
| Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter | Super Scatters pay a fixed prize when the bonus starts; multipliers up to 100x | 50,000x | 96.51% | August 2025 (Yogonet) |
| Sweet Bonanza Dice | A slot with dice symbols: 6×5 grid, 8+ matching symbols, 4 scatters for free spins, multipliers up to 100x | Over 21,000x | 96.49% | Not confirmed |
| Sweet Bonanza CandyLand | Live wheel game show, not a slot | Not published | Not published | November 2021 (Yogonet) |
Top win is a multiple of the stake: at A$1 a spin, 25,000x is A$25,000. The Dice figure comes from Pragmatic’s Indonesian page, “lebih dari 21,000x”, because the English address redirects there.
Super Scatter is the version with the largest stated prize. According to its game page, one, two, three or four Super Scatters on the triggering spin award 100x, 500x, 5,000x or 50,000x, and four of them pay the 50,000x maximum.
CandyLand works differently. Yogonet’s report of 25 November 2021 describes a wheel with six betting positions: number segments of 1x, 2x, 5x and 10x and two bonus games, Sweet Spins (10 free spins played live) and Candy Drop (a virtual plinko wall). Pragmatic’s English page for the game returned “not found” on 11 October 2026.
Volatility and max win: where sources disagree
For the original game, the only figures come from 2019; Pragmatic’s current page shows no volatility rating and no maximum win. Volatility describes how wins are spread; a high-volatility slot pays less often, in larger amounts.
World Casino Directory’s launch report of 26 June 2019 quotes the studio unveiling “a high-volatility game” and gives a top win of “up to 21,175x”. Neither figure is repeated on the provider page today, so treat both as the 2019 settings.
The newer versions are clearer, because their provider pages state the top prize: 25,000x for 1000 and 2500, and 50,000x for Super Scatter.
Is Sweet Bonanza real, and does it pay real money?
Sweet Bonanza is a real game from a studio that states it is licensed in Great Britain. The footer of Pragmatic’s game page says PragmaticPlay (Gibraltar) Limited is licensed and regulated in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission under account number 56015 (UK Gambling Commission public register: status Active, checked 11 October 2026). The footer also mentions a Gibraltar licence; we could not check it in a public register, so we do not rely on it.
Whether it pays real money depends on the casino, not the game. No casino may legally offer it online to people in Australia (see the next section), so a real-money Sweet Bonanza that accepts you is run by a casino not licensed in Australia. The studio’s licence covers the studio; it gives you no Australian protection at that casino.
Demo play
Pragmatic runs a free demo of Sweet Bonanza on its own demo server; it is the version whose settings we read for the RTP section. A demo uses play credits, so nothing is won or lost. Our free pokies guide explains what demos show and what they do not.
Is it legal to play in Australia?
Offering it is not. In the words of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 “makes it illegal for gambling providers to offer some online services to people in Australia”, and ACMA lists online casinos among them. ACMA’s list of illegal online services starts with “slots (pokies)”.
ACMA asks internet providers to block sites that offer such services, including “online slot machines”. Its pages checked on 11 October 2026 also set out what this means for you: if you use an illegal service, “Australian regulators will not be able to help you” if the provider treats you poorly or withholds your winnings, and a blocked site may leave you unable to log in to your account.
The law is changing. The Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Bill 2026 passed on 19 August 2026, and ACMA says most of the reforms start on 1 January 2027. Our guide to the law on real-money online casinos covers the detail.

Sweet Bonanza FAQ
Is Sweet Bonanza a real game?
Yes. It is a slot by Pragmatic Play, whose game page lists its mechanics and an RTP of 96.48%. Pragmatic states that it is licensed by the Gambling Commission in Great Britain (account 56015, public register, status Active on 11 October 2026).
Does Sweet Bonanza pay real money in Australia?
Not through a legal service. ACMA says the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 “makes it illegal for gambling providers to offer some online services to people in Australia” and lists “slots (pokies)” among illegal online services, so any casino offering Sweet Bonanza to Australians for money is not licensed in Australia. ACMA warns that Australian regulators will not be able to help if such a service withholds your winnings.
What is the RTP of Sweet Bonanza?
96.48%, according to Pragmatic Play’s game page, checked 11 October 2026. The provider’s demo reports two unlabelled values, 96.49% and 96.60%, so check the game’s info screen at the casino for the version it runs.
Which Sweet Bonanza has the biggest max win?
Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter: 50,000x the stake for four Super Scatters on the triggering spin, according to Pragmatic. Sweet Bonanza 1000 and 2500 pay up to 25,000x. Pragmatic’s page gives no maximum for the original; its 2019 launch press said 21,175x.
