Microgaming in short
Microgaming was the studio behind Mega Moolah and, by its own account, the first maker of online casino software. Its about page, archived on 7 April 2020, says: “Microgaming developed the world’s first true online casino software in 1994 and the first mobile casino software in 2004.” That is the company’s own claim.
The same archived page describes its headquarters, “Sixty Two”, which “officially opened on 31 July 2017”. Games Global’s filing gives its own address as 62 Circular Road, Douglas, Isle of Man.
The 2022 sale to Games Global
Microgaming did not change its name; it sold the games. Yogonet reported on 5 May 2022: “Microgaming announced Tuesday it has finalized the sale of its distribution business and online games portfolio to games supplier, Games Global Limited.”
The same report says Microgaming would “now focus on providing platform systems and services to online gaming brands, including Games Global and its customers”. This rests on trade press: Games Global’s own 2024 filing does not mention Microgaming by name.
The filing tells the story from Games Global’s side. It says Games Global was incorporated in the Isle of Man on 8 July 2021 by Fusion Holdings Limited, “pursuant to a carve-out of Fusion’s game development business”. Games Global’s website says “Established in 2022”: incorporated in 2021, operating under its name from 2022.
Games Global today
Games Global is an unlisted Isle of Man company with licences in Great Britain and Malta. Its 2024 filing names offices in “South Africa, Australia, the United States, Malta, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Gibraltar and Sweden”, with key administrative functions in the Isle of Man.
| Regulator | Licence holder | Number | Register, 11 October 2026 |

Games Global is not listed on a stock exchange. It filed for a US share listing on 16 April 2024 and withdrew the registration on 13 May 2024, according to the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s records.
What microgaming.io is today
The Microgaming name lives on at a website that does not say who runs it. On 11 October 2026 microgaming.co.uk redirected to microgaming.io, which says it was “built by the original team behind the brand” and names no legal entity or licence.
The UK register still holds the trading name “microgaming” under account 39073, Apricot Investments Limited, with the trading name marked Inactive. We could not establish who operates microgaming.io.
Mega Moolah: who runs it and what it has paid
Mega Moolah is a progressive jackpot that Games Global reports on in its 2024 filing. A progressive jackpot grows with a share of each stake until someone wins it; the filing says Mega Moolah’s top prize has a minimum payout, or “seed”, of €2 million.
Between 2021 and 2023, the filing says, Mega Moolah paid out €109 million in total, with a win every 52 days on average. Its WowPot jackpot paid €78 million, a win every 196 days.
Three sources disagree on the record. Microgaming announced on 30 April 2021 a win of €19,430,723.60 on Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah, struck by a player in Belgium on 27 April 2021. Guinness World Records still lists €17,879,645 won by Jon Heywood (UK) on Mega Moolah on 6 October 2015 as the largest online slot jackpot. Games Global’s filing calls WowPot “home of the largest ever online jackpot win”, citing CasinoListings.
So €19.43 million is the largest Mega Moolah win we can source, not an undisputed world record. Games Global publishes no RTP for Mega Moolah: its website had no game pages on 11 October 2026. Our jackpot pokies guide explains how progressive jackpots work.
Where we looked for Games Global
On 11 October 2026 none of the casino lobbies we rechecked listed Games Global or Microgaming. We read the provider filters of ten casinos we review, all offshore and not licensed in Australia, through an Australian connection; nine of them, including BitStarz, also from a connection in Germany. Neither connection showed the studio.
A list we captured on 23 September 2026 included Games Global or Microgaming at BitStarz. On 11 October BitStarz listed 49 studios from Australia and 88 from Germany, without it in either list.
We read the lists without an account and did not try to open a game. We list no bonus offers here; how no-deposit offers work is explained in our bonus types guide.
Are Microgaming casinos legal in Australia?
No online casino is. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) says the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 “makes it illegal for gambling providers to offer some online services to people in Australia”, and online casinos are among the banned services (checked 11 October 2026). None of Games Global’s listed licences is Australian, although its filing names an office in Australia.
ACMA also writes to studios. Its compliance report of October 2025 says it wrote to 63 software providers whose games were available on an illegal gambling website, and 27 responded and acted to keep their content out of “restricted jurisdictions such as Australia”. ACMA names none of the 63, so we cannot say whether Games Global was one.
The law is tightening. The Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Act 2026 received Royal Assent on 26 August 2026; most of it starts on 1 January 2027, including powers to block payments to illegal gambling services. Our guide to the law on real-money online casinos covers the detail.

Microgaming FAQ
Does Microgaming still exist?
The name does; the games business moved. Microgaming sold its games portfolio and distribution business to Games Global in 2022, as reported by Yogonet on 5 May 2022. In October 2026 microgaming.co.uk redirects to microgaming.io, a site that names no company or licence.
Who owns Mega Moolah now?
Games Global, on the evidence we have. It reports Mega Moolah’s jackpot payouts in its 2024 filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and trade press reported in May 2022 that it had bought Microgaming’s online games portfolio.
What is the biggest Mega Moolah win?
€19,430,723.60 on Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah on 27 April 2021, according to Microgaming. Guinness World Records still lists a 2015 Mega Moolah win of €17,879,645 as the largest online slot jackpot, so the 2021 figure is the largest Mega Moolah win we can source, not an undisputed record.
Are Microgaming casinos legal in Australia?
No. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 bans offering online casino services to people in Australia, whatever studio supplies the games. None of Games Global’s listed licences is Australian.
