Indian Dreaming Pokie Machine by Aristocrat: How It Works and Where It Is Playable

Updated 18 October 2026 · 7 min read · 18+ · How this site is funded

Indian Dreaming is a 243-ways Aristocrat pokie machine that Aristocrat’s own website described by 2001; on 17 October 2026 we found no page for it on Aristocrat’s current site, no regulated online version and no free version we could confirm in Aristocrat’s apps.

Key facts

  • Aristocrat’s product sheet, archived from 2001 to 2004, gives 243 ways, a maximum bet of 500 credits and “20, 15 and 10 free games”, with wins multiplied by 3 and/or 5 when a teepee substitutes in a win during free games.
  • There is no single RTP: the sheet listed seven return-to-player settings, from 82% to 97%.
  • Reel Hold’Em Indian Dreaming is a newer, separate game, approved in the ACT on 30 July 2020.
  • Heart of Vegas, Cashman Casino and Lightning Link Casino, Aristocrat’s Product Madness apps, do not name the game in their Australian store listings; we did not check the in-app lobbies (17 October 2026).
  • Aristocrat does not licence its games to offshore operators, so a real-money Indian Dreaming at a site that accepts Australians is not an Aristocrat product (why Aristocrat games are not at offshore casinos). None of the 12 offshore lobbies we search lists a game of that name (17 October 2026).

What Indian Dreaming is

Indian Dreaming is an Aristocrat venue pokie, and in 2001 it was the one game Aristocrat’s 243 Ways page linked to show how that format works. Its product sheet, archived from 2001 to 2004, says it was derived from Reelin and Rockin. The sheet also says it was “Currently available in South Africa, New Zealand and all Australian States except for Western Australia”; the word currently there means the time of those copies.

The Aristocrat documents we found give no release year, so we do not print one. The only symbol the sheet names is the teepee. The name now covers more than one product:

Indian Dreaming in New Zealand casinosListed twice, with Lady Luck and Jackpot Carnival in brackets; the list does not explain themNZ Department of Internal Affairs, casino approvals up to 3 July 2017
Reel Hold’Em Indian DreamingA newer game: 243 Ways, the Reel Hold’Em feature and a must-hit-by mystery jackpot; NSW and ACT; 1c, 2c and 5cACT approval NI2020-507, 30 July 2020; Aristocrat ANZ page, archived 17 May 2021

Aristocrat’s ANZ page says the newer game “builds on the original”. Its figures describe Reel Hold’Em Indian Dreaming only, not the classic machine.

Features and how a round works

Aristocrat’s product sheet gives the essentials: 243 ways, “20, 15 and 10 free games”, and wins multiplied by 3 and/or 5 when a teepee substitutes in a win during free games.

Aristocrat, product sheet “Aristocrat - Indian Dreaming”, Wayback copies of 28 November 2001, 21 April 2003 and 15 January 2004; the text is the same in all three.

The sheet does not say what starts the free games, how their number is set, or whether they can be won again during the feature. Its pay table was not archived, so we give no symbol pays. Beside each level of its volatility scale the sheet lists two games: Queen of the Nile and Chicken at 4, Golden Canaries and Cash Chameleon at 5.

RTP: a menu, not one number

There is no single RTP for Indian Dreaming: Aristocrat’s sheet listed seven return-to-player settings, 82, 85, 87, 90, 92, 95 and 97%. Which setting a given machine uses is not published in the sources we checked (17 October 2026).

A 90% setting means that, on average over a very long run, the machine pays back 90 credits of every 100 bet; it does not promise a return on any session. Venue machines must return at least 85% in NSW and Victorian pubs and clubs and Queensland venues (venue return limits by state).

Free play: what exists

We found no free version of Indian Dreaming distributed by Aristocrat as of 17 October 2026. The Australian store listings of Heart of Vegas, Cashman Casino and Lightning Link Casino, Aristocrat’s Product Madness apps, do not name the game. Neither the App Store nor Google Play in Australia shows an Aristocrat or Product Madness app of that name. We did not open the lobbies inside the apps, so the game’s presence there is not confirmed either way.

Aristocrat offers no demos to Australian players, and browser sites offering free Aristocrat pokies are almost always running copies, as our guide to free Aristocrat pokies explains. What other free pokies are, from casino demos to social apps, is in our free pokies guide.

Where the real game is playable

Aristocrat’s documents place Indian Dreaming on venue floors (its 2001–2004 sheet; NZ casino approvals listed to July 2017); we found no current public list of machines and no regulated online version (17 October 2026).

Offshore casinos accepting Australians0 of the 12 lobbies we search list a game called Indian Dreaming; a search for the word Indian finds only other studios’ gamesLobby search from an Australian IP, 17 October 2026

The 12 lobbies are the ones our free pokies guide uses for title checks; they are offshore, not licensed in Australia, and we do not recommend them. An offshore real-money Indian Dreaming is not an Aristocrat product, because Aristocrat does not licence its games to offshore operators (our Aristocrat guide). What Australian law says about online pokies is in our guide to the law.

How to tell a copy

Our Aristocrat guide calls the studio name in the info panel the definitive test: if it is not Aristocrat, the game is not Aristocrat’s (signs of a copy). Two further signs apply to this title. Paylines instead of 243 ways do not match Aristocrat’s sheet for the classic, so check the studio name. An RTP above 97% is outside the settings the sheet listed for the classic in 2001–2004.

Indian Dreaming FAQ

Can you play Indian Dreaming pokies online for real money in Australia?

The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 prohibits offering online casino games, including pokies, to people in Australia, and Aristocrat does not licence its games to offshore operators. We found no regulated online version of Indian Dreaming in the game lists of six US operators that Aristocrat Interactive supplies, and none of the 12 offshore lobbies we searched lists the game (17 October 2026). A real-money Indian Dreaming at a site that accepts Australians is not an Aristocrat product.

Is there a free Indian Dreaming pokie?

We found no free version distributed by Aristocrat as of 17 October 2026. Heart of Vegas, Cashman Casino and Lightning Link Casino do not name the game in their Australian store listings; we did not check the lobbies inside the apps. Aristocrat offers no demos to Australian players.

What is the RTP of Indian Dreaming?

There is no single figure. Aristocrat’s product sheet, archived from 2001 to 2004, listed seven settings from 82% to 97%, and which one a given machine uses is not published in the sources we checked. Venue machines must return at least 85% in NSW and Victorian pubs and clubs and Queensland venues.

How do the free games work in Indian Dreaming?

Aristocrat’s product sheet, archived from 2001 to 2004, says “Win 20, 15 and 10 free games”, and wins are multiplied by 3 and/or 5 when a teepee substitutes in a win during free games. It does not say what starts the feature, how the number of free games is set, or whether they can be won again.

Who makes Indian Dreaming and when did it come out?

Aristocrat. The game was on Aristocrat’s website by 28 August 2001, but the Aristocrat documents we found give no release year. A newer game, Reel Hold’Em Indian Dreaming, was approved in the ACT on 30 July 2020.
