The game in one table
Gates of Olympus pays for groups of matching symbols, not for lines, and its large wins come from multipliers. The figures below are from Pragmatic Play’s game page and from the settings of Pragmatic’s own demo, both read on 11 October 2026.
| Feature | Gates of Olympus |
|---|---|
| Studio | Pragmatic Play |
| Reels | Six tumbling reels; symbols pay anywhere on the screen |
| Winning combination | 8–30 matching symbols, paying up to 50x |
| Multipliers | Up to 500x, in the base game and in free spins |
| Free spins | 15, for 4 or more scatters |
| Top win | 5,000x the stake; 4,000x with the ante bet (demo settings) |
| RTP | 96.50% (game page); 96.50% for normal play, ante bet and bonus buy (demo settings) |
| Volatility | Not published by Pragmatic; “very high (5/5)” according to OLBG, a third-party estimate |
| Bonus buy | Offered in Pragmatic’s demo |
“Tumbling” means winning symbols are removed and new ones fall from the top, so one spin can pay several times; that is how Pragmatic’s page for the 1000 version describes it. In free spins, each multiplier that lands on a winning spin is added to a running total that applies to the win. A 10x followed by a 25x therefore counts as 35x.
Top win is a multiple of the stake: at A$1 a spin, 5,000x is A$5,000. Volatility describes how wins are spread; a high-volatility pokie pays less often, in larger amounts.
RTP: one published figure, lower builds reported
Pragmatic Play publishes one RTP for Gates of Olympus: 96.50%. Return to player (RTP) is the share of all stakes a game is designed to pay back over a very large number of spins. At 96.50%, that is A$96.50 for every A$100 staked over the long run, not a promise for any one session.
Third-party reviews report lower builds. OLBG, an affiliate review site, wrote on its page read on 11 October 2026 that Pragmatic offers casinos two other versions, 95.51% and 94.5%. Pragmatic’s own page does not list them. At 94.5%, the game keeps A$5.50 of every A$100 instead of A$3.50.
The figure that applies to you is the one in the game’s info screen at the casino where it runs. Our online pokies guide explains how to read that screen.
Original, 1000 and Super Scatter compared
The three versions share the pay-anywhere grid and the 15 free spins; they differ in multipliers and top prize. The table uses Pragmatic’s game pages, checked 11 October 2026.
| Version | Multipliers | Top win | RTP (provider page) | Bonus buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gates of Olympus | Up to 500x | 5,000x (demo settings) | 96.50% | Offered in the demo |
| Gates of Olympus 1000 | 2x to 1,000x; 3+ scatters in the bonus add 5 free spins | Not on provider page | 96.50% | 100x the bet |
| Gates of Olympus Super Scatter | Up to 500x | 50,000x | Not published | Not on provider page |
Super Scatter adds a fixed prize when the bonus starts. According to its game page, one, two, three or four Super Scatters on the triggering spin award 100x, 500x, 5,000x or 50,000x the bet. Its RTP field was empty when we checked.
The 1000 version keeps the 96.50% return and widens the multiplier range to 1,000x. Pragmatic’s page gives no top win for it. Big Bass Bonanza, another Pragmatic series with a 1000 version, is compared in our Big Bass Bonanza guide.
Ante bet and bonus buy
Both options change what you stake, not the stated return: Pragmatic’s demo lists 96.50% for normal play, for the ante bet and for the bonus buy. In Pragmatic games, the ante bet is generally an optional extra stake that raises the chance of reaching free spins; the Gates of Olympus page does not describe it. With the ante bet on, the demo caps the top win at 4,000x instead of 5,000x.
The bonus buy is a payment that starts the free spins at once. Pragmatic’s page for Gates of Olympus 1000 prices it at 100x the bet, so one buy at a A$1 stake costs A$100. What a buy costs, how regulators have treated it and how it interacts with bonus terms is in our bonus buy pokies guide.
Demo play
Pragmatic runs free demos on its own game pages for Gates of Olympus, Gates of Olympus 1000 and Gates of Olympus Super Scatter. These are the only free versions we can vouch for. A demo uses play credits, so nothing is won or lost. Our free pokies guide explains what demos show and what they do not.
Can you play it at casinos that take Australians?
Not at the ones we checked. On 11 October 2026 we searched the lobbies of five offshore casinos that accept Australian players by game title, through an Australian internet connection, and none listed Gates of Olympus. On 9 October 2026 the studio lists of ten such lobbies did not include Pragmatic Play at all.
This is our own check at two points in time, and lobbies change. These casinos are not licensed in Australia; we do not name or recommend them. If a site shows a game under this name, the game’s info screen names the studio.
Is it legal in Australia?
Offering it online is not. In the words of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 “makes it illegal for gambling providers to offer some online services to people in Australia”, and ACMA lists online casinos among them. ACMA’s list of illegal online services starts with “slots (pokies)”.
ACMA asks internet providers to block sites that offer such services, including “online slot machines”. Its pages checked on 11 October 2026 also set out what this means for you: if you use an illegal service, “Australian regulators will not be able to help you” if the provider treats you poorly or withholds your winnings, and a blocked site may leave you unable to log in to your account.
The law is changing. The Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Bill 2026 passed on 19 August 2026, and ACMA says most of the reforms start on 1 January 2027. Our guide to the law on real-money online casinos covers the detail.
