What Dragon Link is
Dragon Link is an Aristocrat series that takes the Lightning Link engine and gives it Asian themes. In Aristocrat’s words, the series “builds off the Lighting Link platform, adding colorful Asian-themed games and exciting game features,” and adds “a beautiful Orb trigger symbol across all titles, making it easy to recognize regardless of the game you’re enjoying.”
The Orb is the practical marker: it is the symbol tied to Hold & Spin in every Dragon Link title. How the parent series works is explained on our Lightning Link page.
Aristocrat’s pages give no launch year and no reel or line count. The trade outlet CDC Gaming Reports refers to “the 2017 debut of Aristocrat’s original Dragon Link game” (24 March 2023) without naming the market where it debuted.
The eight Australian titles
Aristocrat’s Australian page names eight Dragon Link games on its MarsX cabinets (the machine model the games run on). The US page lists the same eight plus Silk Road, each “part of the Dragon Link™ / Dragon Cash™ family.”

Hold & Spin, scatters and free games
In most Dragon Link titles, Hold & Spin can start either in the base game or inside free games: Aristocrat’s feature rows read “Hold & Spin in base or Free Games.” The feature is not reserved for one part of the game.
The titles then differ in their free games and scatters. A scatter is a symbol that pays wherever it lands on the reels; on Autumn Moon and Golden Century, Aristocrat says it can win “up to 250x your bet.” Peacock Princess and Spring Festival offer “UNLIMITED FREE GAMES — With big symbols and Hold & Spin potential.” Happy and Prosperous and Panda Magic remove the royal symbols during free games.
Aristocrat’s public pages do not set out the detailed rules of Hold & Spin, such as the trigger count or the number of respins, so this guide does not describe them.
The jackpots: a progressive Grand on every title
Every Dragon Link title carries a progressive Grand jackpot, which Aristocrat calls an “Exciting top progressive prize.” A progressive jackpot grows as the game is played until someone wins it. Aristocrat’s Asia page for Autumn Moon lists two progressives, “GRAND & MAJOR JACKPOT.”
Aristocrat does not publish jackpot amounts for Australian machines. The one range we found is for a US version: on 1 July 2020 Aristocrat premiered a high-volatility Dragon Link at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa with denominations from $0.10 to $25 and “a larger linked or standalone jackpot ranging from $50,000 to $500,000.” That range applies to that US version only. How linked and standalone jackpots differ is in our jackpot pokies guide.
Free play: two titles in the Lightning Link Casino app
Golden Century and Panda Magic are free to play with virtual coins in Aristocrat’s Lightning Link Casino app, published by Product Madness. The App Store listing describes them as “Classic Dragon Link fun, now in your pocket.”
The app pays nothing out. Its listing says it “does not offer gambling or an opportunity to win real money or prizes,” and Product Madness says the coin balance “cannot be cashed out or sold for real money.” Coin packs are sold for real money. Other legitimate free options are listed in our free pokies guide.
Real-money Dragon Link online
We found no regulated real-money online launch of Dragon Link as of 11 October 2026. In our searches, the only Aristocrat Link series announced online is Lightning Link: High Stakes from 23 July 2026 and Tiki Fire from 4 September 2026, in regulated US states and Canadian provinces.
Our reading, not Aristocrat’s words: Aristocrat Interactive describes itself as a “regulated online Real Money Gaming (RMG) business,” and online pokies may not be offered to people in Australia, so a real-money “Dragon Link” at a site that accepts Australians is not an Aristocrat product we could trace. Our Aristocrat pokies guide explains how to check the studio behind a game.
Copies and the Light & Wonder settlement
The one documented copy case concerns land-based machines, not online games. Gambling.com reports that “Light & Wonder used Aristocrat’s mathematical models from the Dragon Link series in its own Dragon Train and Jewel of the Dragon titles.”
Earlier in 2026, according to Gambling.com and Covers, the two companies settled for US$127.5 million. According to Covers, Light & Wonder “admitted to using certain Aristocrat math models in its games, agreed to delete all documents containing the information, and promised not to use it further.” We could not open the companies’ joint statement and rely on these two reports.
For a player, the case shows that a game can look and play like Dragon Link and still come from another studio. The studio name in the info panel is the check.
Is it legal to play Dragon Link in Australia?
Online for real money, no provider may offer it to you. In the words of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 “makes it illegal for gambling providers to offer some online services to people in Australia”, and ACMA lists “slots (pokies)” among illegal online services. Aristocrat’s Australian page lists eight Dragon Link titles for its MarsX cabinets; it does not say which venues run them.
ACMA asks internet providers to block sites offering such services. It warns that if you use an illegal service, “Australian regulators will not be able to help you” if the provider treats you poorly or withholds your winnings, and that a blocked site may stop you logging in to your account.
Parliament passed the Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Bill 2026 on 19 August 2026; ACMA says most of the reforms commence on 1 January 2027. Our guide to the law covers the details.
